OUR PUBLICATIONS:

How to Play Romanian Folk Violin, Vol.1 by Miamon Miller is an exellent introduction to the folk music of this East European country, giving background information as well as transcriptions to 10 folkdance pieces. The accompanying stereo CD serves as an audio aid enabling the player to learn not only melodies and ornamentation but the style of playing 'back-up' (rhythm and harmony). $19.95*

How to Play Romanian Violin, Vol. 2 by Miamon Miller and Lache Cercel expands the repertoire and stylistic nuances learned in the first book. Lache, a native Romanian and winner of many coveted musical awards, plays folk music from Wallachia and Moldavia accompanied by George Ferraru on accordion while Miamon concentrates on Transylvanian repertoire. Common techniques and regional variations of accordion, guitar and violin accompaniment are also included. The 12 pieces, all transcribed and on stereo CD, make a perfect complement to the first book. $19.95*

How to Play Romanian Panpipe by Valeriu Apan, is a step-by-step description of how to tune, play and maintain the instrument made famous by Zamfir. Valeriu was born in Romania and is both a maker and player of this ancient instrument. A recognized authority on the use of panpipes worldwide, he is uniquely equipped to shepherd musicians along, what for many will be new musical paths. There are over 50 pages of history, folklore, exercises and transcriptions. With the accompanying CD, it's perfect for the beginning through intermediate player. $19.95*

How to Play Mariachi Violin by Lawrence Saunders, is the last in our series of self-teaching booklets. It offers over 50 pages of background information and transcriptions (of all three violin parts) which help unravel the mystery of how to get that mariachi 'sound'. 5 typical genres are explored which include the jarabe, son, danzón, polka and march. Authored by a professional mariachi who learned the music as a non-native musician, this book is ideal for those who wish to know more of this wonderful style. Complete with stereo CD. $19.95*

The Balkan Foldance Music Gig Book is the 'fake' book for individuals or groups that play for Balkan folkdances. It's easily read and has more than 60 popular folkdance melodies (with chords) from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. $11.95*

The Balkan/European Folkdance Music Gig Book, Vol. 2 adds 60 more popular folkdance melodies (with chords) to your repertoire. Not only are the following countries represented: Croatia, Serbia, Greece and Romania, there is a major section devoted to the music of the Vlachs. Fuge Imaginea is pleased to announce three new books arranged and published by Zinovy Goro: Klezmer Clarinetist Books 1 & 2 (also available in Bb versions) and The Essential Russian/Ukraine Fake Book. Zinovy was born in Kiev, Ukraine and has a Master in Fine Arts degree from that city's Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in performance (clarinet) and composition. After arriving in the US in 1980, Zinovy discovered klezmer music and has been performing with his award-winning Golden State Klezmers ever since. His books are eminently clear (he's a professional copyist) and perfect for on-the-gig sight-reading.

Klezmer Clarinetist Book 1. Although it says 'Clarinetist' in the title, this book is wonderfully suited for any C melody instrument (violin, accordion, piano, flute, etc.) and has chord symbols clearly written above the melody line. The repertoire of 38 melodies contains traditional klezmer freylekhs, bulgars, shers etc., along with Yiddish theater and Israeli favorites. $19.95*

Klezmer Clarinetist Book 1 (Bb version). This is the same book as above (no chord symbols) transposed specifically for Bb instruments (clarinet, trumpet, etc). $19.95*

Klezmer Clarinetist Book 2 continues the successful tradition of Book 1 with 37 more pieces drawn from the same Jewish repertoire. If you only play one Bar Mitzvah, these two books will pay for themselves. $19.95*

Klezmer Clarinetist Book 2 (Bb version) again transposes the pieces in the above C book for Bb instruments. $19.95*

The Essential Russian/Ukraine Fake Book. OK, 65 pieces (melody lines and chords) from the former Soviet Union are probably 63 more than you usually play on any job. But, if you did need more.... well, you know the rest. This book has 50 pieces from Russia and the Ukraine plus 15 more from other areas including Armenia, Georgia, Estonia and Latvia. Again, they are written and arranged in a manner perfect for sight-reading, on-the-job musicians. $44.95*
